The GIft
I really enjoyed this poem. The way the author describes the relationship between him and his father is amazing. He aslo describes the things his father did for him he took with him as an adult. His father was a Gift to him. A lot of households these days do not have an active father figure. Young men growing up without fathers. No one teaching them how to become good men. Mothers try but theres still something missing. How can you teach someone to be something that your not? To be a man takes alot. You have to be a good man, father, and husband. Not everyone can master those things. Its takes practice and a role model.
One Art
This poem was very interesting to me. It talks about how we lose things everyday that it becomes an art. She starts the poem "The are of losing is not hard to master." The good thing about this poem is that everybody can relate to it. Everybody has lost items or misplaced them at one moment in time. I know almost everyday I lose my remote and my keys. lol...
A&P
This story shows how reserved society was back in those days. Three girls walking into a supermarket with bikini's on was considered an act of rebeillion. The manager of the store scolds them about there attire. He tells them "We want you decently dressed when you come in here."
We refers to society. Do you think a manager of a supermarket would do that in 2o07?

The Glass Menagerie
A portion of this story is about a girl named Laura who seemed to be lost in her own world. She seemed to be crippled in her mind. For this she was afraid to deal with the real world. Do you think its possible for someone to be handicapped mentally and not physically? In Laura's case i think it was just fear of the outside world. A fear of failure or doing something wrong. She had an inferiority complex, she didn't have much faith in herself. I don't consider these to be a sign of being crippled mentally.

The Mother
This poem is about soon to be mothers that aborted there child due to certain circumstances. Personally I feel that abortion should be a mothers choice depending on the circumstance at hand. Pregnancy due to rape is a specific situation. The downside of abortion is that a lot of young females take advantage of it and have them without remorse.
